Honey Moon?

Right now, there is a exciting event happening. The Moon will become an amber or honey color. This will end very soon, so you should see it very soon. This kind is very rare - not only will it be honey-colored, it extends to the "unlucky-numbered day", it is a full moon (while in its lowest place for a full moon), and the moon will reach its closest approach. A full explination from Slooh is here: On the night of June 12th and continuing into the morning of Friday, the 13th, the famously unlucky day, a full Honey Moon will appear low in the sky - the first time this creepy combination has happened in decades. Slooh will cover the Honey Moon live on Thursday, June 12th starting at 6:30 PM PDT / 9:30 PM EDT / 01:30 UTC (6/13) - International Times:  http://goo.gl/5gyHMz . Slooh will broadcast the event live for two hours from Slooh member controlled observatory sites: (1) off the west coast of Africa, at the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands, and (2) th...

Google Translate

Google Translate is not always correct. If you take a speech, song, etc., and translate it several times in different languages(taking the same writing) and translate it back to English, you get something very different. Here is an example. This is the  original  song: Do you want to build a snowman? Come on, let's go and play I never see you anymore Come out the door It's like you've gone away We used to be best buddies And now we're not I wish you would tell me why Do you want to buid a snowman It doesn't have to be a snowman Do you want to build a snowman? Or ride our bike around the hall? I think some company is overdue... I've started talking to The pictures on the walls It gets a little lonely All these empty rooms Just watching the hours tick by Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock Please, I know you're in there People are asking where you've been They say have courage And I'm trying to ...

The Dock

Image
Today, I went to Captree State Park . It is a good place to go crab catching, especially in the warmer months at high tide with chicken legs. Be careful not to lean anything on the railing, or it will fall into the water. Although it was not crab season, we caught 5 crabs! You can also fish here (we didn't fish), and if forgot anything, you can go to the convenient store a few steps away from the dock. There is a large playground, so that takes care of your children. You don't have to worry about parking, either, because there's a spacious parking lot. Many fishing boats also dock here, and there is a restaurant too (there are restrooms, of course). There is also Captree State Park  nearby. All in all, this is a great place for fishing and crabbing lovers. I rate this 4.95 stars out of 5 stars.

Staybridge Hotel

Image
Yesterday, I came back from Staybridge Hotel in New Brunswick, New Jersey. This is a three star hotel, and it had many luxuries, such as free Wi-Fi, breakfast, pool, and “fitness room” (like many 3-star hotels). The Wi-Fi was 4 or 5 “bar,” and the breakfast was delicious.  But unlike most hotels at this “star level,” there was a jacuzzi, and the rooms were large ; There were two “rooms,” separated by double doors. In the spacious room, there was a sofa and large bed (you can get 2 double beds for $20 more), 2 TVs, and a kitchen with a dining table. This is a great hotel for those who love large rooms or jacuzzis. I would rate this hotel 5 stars out of 5.

Cunningham Park

Image
P.S.: The time when we left is shown 2 days ago, I went to Cunningham Park . It is a 358-acre park with a "long enclosed box" , baseball parks, and mountain bike trails. When we got there, there was plenty of parking space. There was also some old men playing in the "long enclosed box" with red and green balls and a scoreboard-which looked like a clock. The baseball parks were spacious and numerous, and there is forest nearby where some foul balls end up. It is perfect to go baseball hunting there. Although I did not see the bike trails, the maps of them online show that there are different levels of difficulties and long trails. Around this area, there is also a Greenway path. Nearby parks are Kissina Park and Alley Pond Park. I would rate this park 4.75 stars out of 5 stars. I recommend this park to baseball, bike, and "walking" lovers.

Kensico Dam

Image
3 days ago, I went to Kensico Dam . When my family and I were driving home from LaQuinta Inn we were greeted by it. Surprisingly, cars were not allowed to go in; it was blocked by "ramps". After walking past some barricades (which were interesting), we got a great view of Kensico Dam Plaza and Kensico Reservoir. Around the middle of the dam, we saw an area marked "water supply land". Unfortunately, the plaza was closed due to renovation. This was a good visit; I would like it better if the plaza wasn't closed. So, I would rate this dam 4 stars out of 5 stars. Water

This is a project on the water cycle I did for school . In the 2,014 years I have lived, I should tell you about the most horrible week I have ever experienced 2 years ago. Cycle 1 I was a drop of salt water. Swish! My friends and I were bouncing in the waves of the ocean. The sun came out from behind the clouds. Suddenly, some of my friends and I evaporated.  Leaving our salt behind, we rose up right into Hurricane Sandy.  There, we  condensed  on pieces of dust. The strong winds of the hurricane made us bump into each other. “Ouch!” we said as we jerked into each other forcefully. Eventually, the harsh winds let us go. Plink! We landed onto a black marble roof. The 125 M.P.H. winds finally died after two hours and we rolled off the roof. We became runoff and flowed into Long Island Sound. Ahhh... Cycle 2 We  evaporated  from the body of water the next day. "Wow, I would like to be hail"  we thought as we passed by some hail f...

Hawaii

Image
This is a project I did on the rock cycle for school . It is 1984. I am magma that consists of mostly olivine (a magnesium iron silicate with the formula (Mg+2, Fe+2)2SiO4). I am 2,000 feet below the summit of the Mauna Loa volcano mountain on the Hawai’i Island in Hawaii State. Now, the morning of March 25, 1984, the volcano is starting to rumble. The excessive pressure pushed me up to the summit of the volcano, and allows me to escape from the mantle to the surface of the earth. The surface of the earth is much cooler than underground, but it is still hot enough (2,000 F) to keep me in a molten lava state to flow down from the top of the mountain to the ocean. About a fourth of my friends go down the west side. On the next day, the other three quarters of my friends including me travel to the northeast side of the Hawai’i Island. I flow gently down the shield volcano fairly slowly because I have about 50% of silicon, which makes me move slowly. I know several friends ...

IHOP

Image
IHOP is my favorite restaurant, not because it is the best quality restaurant but because I simply love the pancakes from IHOP. If you get an omelet, you can get a short stack (3 buttermilk pancakes) for free. My father has tried to make a pancake of similar quality to IHOP, but only once it was successful when he added dry milk over whole milk and extra butter. Therefore, it may contain a lot of lactose from milk. I can only have two pancakes with a sufficient amount of maple syrup over the top of pancake with an additional layer of butter. Somehow, the IHOP butter is also delicious. I guess that they added lecithin from soybeans into the butter to enhance the flavor. My father's version of pancake is delicious but my dad cannot eat it because he has lactose tolerance and it would cause diarrhea. I do not have the lactose tolerance like my father did not have when he was young. I may have the lactose tolerance when I become older because I believe I may have the genetics. Anyway...

My Top 5 Vacations

1   My trip to South Korea in August to September 2014. 2   My trip to South Korea in November 2005.   3  My trip to Washington, D.C., Shenandoah Cavern, Philadelphia, and Baltimore  in April 2012. 4 My first trip to New York in April 2011. 5   The mid-winter break  in which I got my blog in February 2014.

Hiatus

I will not be able to post much during the school days. So, during weekends and breaks, I will post more. Saying this, you should expect less posts from August 24 to 28. Also, as a reminder, I will not post anything during the statewide tests.

YMCA

Image
I went to the YMCA at 238-10 Hillside , Bellerose, NY 11426. There are two pools there: the JK pool and the Small pool. I personally like the JK pool better. The JK pool is warmer (perhaps this is why it is dirty: it supports bacterial growth) and gives more privacy than the Small pool; it has stalls in the bathroom and a changing room. However, the Small pool is cleaner and deeper than the JK pool; at one end, it is 10' deep. What do you think about these pools? I had a good time there sinking down to the deep end of the Small pool and swimming back and forth. However, it would have been better if there were stalls. I would rate the pools 4.5 stars out of 5 stars. For more information about this YMCA site, go to  http://www.ymcanyc.org/crossisland .

Old Country Buffet

Image
About 3 hours ago, I went to Old Country Buffet. It was located at 3023 Hampstead Turnpike, Levittown, NY, 11756 .  When I went there, I saw a notable amount of food there. There were foods such as corn, spaghetti and sauce, steak, ham, pork chops, macaroni and cheese, and much more. There were also beverages such as Coca Cola, Icee, juice, and more. There were many seats there; however, a large portion of it appeared to be closed or reserved. The breakfast days were Saturday and Sunday, the lunch days Monday through Saturday, and the dinner days everyday. Further details are at  http://locations.buffet.com/NY/LEVITTOWN/0223/index.html?utm_source=Buffets&utm_medium=Store%2BLocator&utm_campaign=Buffets%2BStore%2BLocator . The food was great here, and the staff were friendly. I would rate this resturaunt 4.9 stars out of 5.

2014 RoboCop Movie Review

Image
My dad told me that RoboCop 2014 has a similar plot as the original Robocop 1987, but it is much better to express the humanism of the RoboCop as a father and husband that were missing in the older version, making it a much better story. An interesting part of the 1987 RoboCop and the 2014 RoboCop is the dominated concept that changes in the USA roll. The 1987 RoboCop was dominated by the Japanese power by the private OCP company. The 2014 RoboCop is controlled by USA, but its manufacturer is located in China. It is an interesting reflection of the social confidence in the US society between 1987 and 2014. The CEO of the Omnicorp (the manufacturer) tries to manipulate the politics and public opinion to put the OCP company in a good position by destroying Murphy's family and treating the RoboCop not as a human being but as the property of the OCP company. Murphy (the Robocop) rejected the treatment, and stood alone to prove himself as a human being, a father of his son and a husban...
